Olympic Torch Relay Coming Through Merritt!
Merritt will host the Olympic Torch Relay

VANOC announced today the route of the Olympic Torch Relay leading up to the 2010 Winter Games.
The City of Merritt is excited to welcome the Torch Relay to our community as the Relay makes a stop here on the evening February 6, 2010. Sponsors RBC and Coca Cola will assist in putting on a community celebration at Voght Park. It is anticipated that this will be a two hour program with community based entertainment, welcoming the Torch and a ceremonial lighting of the cauldron.
City staff will be working the sponsors and the community to organize the event.
Torch Relay participants are chosen by VANOC and any member of the public is welcome to submit an application through the Vancouver2010 website.

Congratulations Merritt ** I'm in London, Ontario, and watch the proceedings of these Incredible times we are witnessing.
My eldest lives in Victoria, BC, and had the opportunity to be present when the Olympic Flame landed. Now, a dear friend of mine, Mike will have the same opportunity to be present and witness this. How cool is this one !
